MPS Series vs. the Market

The right continuous band sealer supports production uptime, simplifies maintenance and keeps pace as your operation grows. Compare our MPS Series to standard band sealers or imported alternatives and see how manufacturing, configuration, controls and equipment design impact performance and ownership costs.

North American Manufacturing vs. Offshore Commodity Equipment

Choosing an MPS continuous band sealer gives your team a domestic manufacturing partner to work with when production requirements change. We are a trusted North American bag sealer manufacturer that prioritizes dependable support, parts availability and practical service access to keep your operation moving.

Made-to-Order Configuration vs. Stock Configurations

Standard equipment often requires buyers to adapt their process to the machine. Our made-to-order approach considers how your operations work, factoring in your production requirements and packaging materials. Get equipment configured for your needs instead of investing in a standard setup that falls short of your operations.

Touch-Screen PLC Control vs. Basic Digital Readouts

A basic digital readout displays settings, while a touch-screen PLC control system gives operators a more capable interface for managing sealing parameters and monitoring machine operation. This operational intelligence enables repeatable settings and simplifies adjustments while providing your production teams with better visibility into the sealing process.

Continuous Duty Design vs. Batch-Rated Equipment

Equipment built for intermittent operation can face challenges when production lines run around the clock. We design MPS sealers for sustained industrial use, supporting consistent quality throughout extended production runs. Reliable operation and minimal interruptions contribute to lower total cost of ownership over the equipment's service life.

Modular Expandability vs. Fixed-Function Machines

A fixed-function machine can limit your options as production needs change. An MPS continuous band sealer features a modular design that allows components and configurations to be upgraded as your requirements adjust. This modular flexibility helps you plan for your future capacity without replacing your entire sealing system.

Frequently Asked Questions About Our MPS Series

Find answers to common questions about our flagship continuous band sealers to help you make an informed decision.

What is the speed range of the MPS Series?

Speed depends on which MPS model fits your production volume. Tabletop models like MPS6140 and MPS6340 can handle up to 300 inches per minute, while MPS14000 can handle up to 1,500 inches per minute. Midrange models such as MPS6100 and MPS6500 run up to 500 inches per minute. MPS7100 and MPS7500 run up to 800 inches per minute.

What is the difference between the MPS6000 and MPS7000 series?

The core distinction between MPS6000 and MPS7000 is their capacity and duty. MPS7000 models are designed for higher-speed, heavier-duty production than standard MPS6000 models.

MPS6000 includes tabletop, standard-production and validatable model iterations, while MPS7000 includes higher-speed, heavier-duty and related validatable or vacuum gas flush variants. Both series support film thicknesses up to 12 mil/300 micron and use color touch-screen controls with recipe management and monitoring features. This means your decision point is throughput and duty cycle, not core sealing capability.

What is the difference between a continuous band sealer and an impulse sealer?

Impulse sealers use short bursts of heat to seal each bag, while continuous band sealers apply steady heat as bags move through the machine. Our MPS continuous band sealers are built for ongoing, high-volume production. This constant heat application supports uninterrupted line speed.

Plexpack's impulse sealers like the VacPack line are better suited to lower-volume or intermittent sealing needs, using a burst of heat rather than constant application.

Does the MPS Series come with a conveyor?

It depends on the specific model. Many MPS models can be configured with conveyor options sized to your bag requirements and production needs.

  • MPS6500 and MPS7500: They come standard with a food-grade stainless steel conveyor, 6 inches by 6 feet, with guide rails.
  • MPS6100 and MPS7100: These models are sold without a conveyor as the base configuration and are designed for lighter bags up to 2 pounds that don't require one.
  • MPS6140 and MPS6340: These tabletop models offer an optional product shelf or tabletop conveyor rather than a built-in standard one.
  • MPS14000: This sealer offers custom conveyors as an option rather than a standard integrated conveyor in the base configuration.
What bag types can the MPS Series seal?

The MPS Series seals different types of heat-sealable bags and pouches, including poly bags, foil bags, laminated structures, Tyvek and gusseted or stand-up pouch formats.

Validatable models are designed for materials common to medical and pharmaceutical packaging, such as Tyvek, foil and poly bags used for IV bags, suture kits, medical draping, bandages and gauze.

What film thicknesses can the MPS Series handle?

The MPS Series can handle up to 12 mil/300 micron in thickness, or 6 mil/150 micron maximum when the bag is gusseted. This figure holds true across the whole series regardless of model.
